Privacy Policy
The short version: Scrunch doesn't collect any data about you. Your photos never leave your iPhone. There's no account, no ads and no tracking. The only thing the app sends is a few anonymous running totals, like how many photos have been scrunched in total, with nothing that identifies you, your phone or your photos.
Who we are
Scrunch is an iPhone app made by Stu Greenham (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app and this website. If you have any questions, email support@getscrunch.app.
Your photo library
Scrunch asks for access to your photo library so it can show you your photos and let you sort through them. You can give it full or limited access, and change that at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.
- Photos are read and shown on your iPhone only. They are never uploaded, copied to a server, shared or sent anywhere.
- Scrunch only changes your library when you ask it to: marking a photo as a favourite, or deleting the photos in the bin when you choose to empty it.
- Deleting always goes through iOS, which asks you to confirm first. Deleted photos stay in Recently Deleted in the Photos app for 30 days.
What's stored on your iPhone
To remember your progress, Scrunch saves a small amount of information on your device:
- Which photos you've kept and which are waiting in the bin (by the library's internal identifiers, not copies of the photos).
- Your game stats, such as makes, misses, streaks and space saved, plus your settings and daily shot count.
This stays on your iPhone. We can't see it. It may be included in your own iCloud or computer backups of your device, under your Apple account, as with any app. Deleting Scrunch removes it.
What we collect
Nothing about you. Scrunch has no account system and contains no advertising or tracking code, and no third-party SDKs.
Anonymous totals
So we can see how much Scrunch has cleared up overall, the app adds its numbers to a set of running totals shared by everyone who plays. When you leave the app, it sends how many of each of these happened since it last sent:
- Photos kept, scrunched and deleted
- Storage freed by deleting
- Shots thrown and shots made
That's all. It includes no account, device or advertising identifier, nothing about your photos (not even which ones), and nothing that could link it to you. Each report is added straight into the totals and isn't kept, and we don't record the IP address it came from. The totals are stored with Upstash, through our host Vercel. Only we look at them, to see how Scrunch is used overall; they aren't published or shared.
Purchases
Scrunch Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and we never see your name, payment details or Apple account. The app asks Apple's StoreKit, on your device, whether you have an active purchase so it can unlock Premium. Apple gives developers aggregated sales reports that don't identify you. Apple's handling of your information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
This website
getscrunch.app doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) may process standard technical information such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Emailing us
If you email us for support, we'll use your email address and whatever you include to reply and help. We won't add you to a mailing list or share it. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
Children
Scrunch doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we don't hold any data about you from the app, there's nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Everything Scrunch stores is on your device and under your control. For anything you've sent us by email, contact support@getscrunch.app.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the app ever starts handling data differently, we'll say so here before it does.
